Factor Program

HCWP is a federally funded hemophilia treatment center (HTC), The HCWP Factor Distribution Program purchases factor products at discounted prices through the Veterans Health Care Act of 1992. This act allows federally funded HTCs to purchase clotting factor at cost savings. The Hemophilia Center of Western Pennsylvania (HCWP) Factor Distribution Program assists in a patient's factor product needs. The HCWP Factor Distribution Program's goal is to provide the highest quality of service in an efficient and cost-effective manner. In many cases patients are not aware of the significant difference in price, and do not plan for the impact such a difference may make on insurance caps for themselves or their children.

The benefits of using the HCWP Factor Distribution Program include:

• SAVINGS! Since the factor product costs less, these savings are passed on to the patient directly or through their insurance company. This directly impacts the patient's out-of-pocket expenses and amounts applied to insurance policy lifetime maximums which can extend the coverage period.

• All products are tracked by lot number to ensure proper patient notification in the event of a recall.
